Roadtrip 2014: Vancouver - Yakima - Boise - Provo - Flagstaff - Tucson - Palm Springs - Paso Robles - Sacramento - Eureka - Bandon - Seaside - Vancouver

Day 31 - Catalina Trails

The Original Inspiration for road-bike handlebars. Really.

Today's Mystery Poo.

Saguaros have to die, too.

The Romero wash is overrun with Monarch butterfiles for some reason. We know they migrate to a mountaintop somewhere in central Mexico, but they are here now.

Wendy read somewhere that it takes 75 years for a saguaro to grow its first arm.

A small and rare spot of shade.

We walked up the wash to where the river runs out of gas. This is the exact spot where the river isn't anymore.

Hard to imagine this channel as a raging torrent - it does happen!

But today - it's as close to being at the beach as I'm going to get. Are we ever going to get to the beach?

A beneficiary of plentiful ground water lives right next to the Sonoran Desert.

Evidence of how high the river gets - and what it leaves in it's wake.

Emma demonstrating the ancient art of divining water by parallel scratches.

It's my well. You can't have any.
